21. Best SEC football players of all time: Darren McFadden, Arkansas football

There is no doubt that SEC Football has produced some of the more legendary running backs in the history of college football, as the elite conference has seen incredible talent tote the rock. There have been Heisman Trophy winners, All-Americans, and Hall of Fame players and our No. 21-ranked player was the most dominant back in his era while playing for Arkansas.

The most decorated player in Arkansas history, Darren McFadden was a freight train with a football in his hands for the Razorbacks, putting together one of the greatest careers of any player in SEC history. McFadden broke onto the scene by rushing for over 1,100 yards as a true freshman, scoring 11 times, and setting the stage for what would be one of the more dominant two-year stretches of any back the SEC has seen.

During the 2006 and 2007 college football seasons, McFadden was the elite back in the country, winning back-to-back Doak Walker Awards. A two-time SEC Player of the Year, he was named a consensus All-American in both seasons, a three-time All-SEC player, and finished as the runner-up for the Heisman in both years.

The winner of the Walter Camp in 2007, McFadden set the school’s single-season record for rushing yards and finished second behind only Herschel Walker in SEC history with 4,590 yards rushing. A product of Little Rock, Arkansas, McFadden became an absolute legend playing for his home school, and while he had a decent NFL career, he is an immortal when it comes to the Razorbacks.
