2. Detroit Lions (No. 7)

I know, I know, Detroit is where talented players’ careers usually go to die. Just look at what happened with Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford. How do all three of those guys have zero postseason success?

With a new front office and fresh coaching staff, the Lions could honestly start turning a corner sooner rather than later. Plus, Detroit will be looking for a young franchise quarterback to lead the charge.

After trading Stafford to the Rams for Jared Goff and some draft picks, Detroit made it clear that it’s ready to completely restart. And it’d be shocking to see them hold on to Goff for longer than this season so picking a quarterback at No. 7 overall would actually make sense.

Zach Wilson could learn the ropes for a year behind Goff instead of being thrown right into the fire and that would be an ideal situation for him. He could then take over as QB1 in 2022 and help lead the Lions back to relevancy with some young studs surrounding him on offense — assuming Kenny Golladay re-signs.

Detroit could build around Wilson with those extra draft picks it received from the Rams for the next couple of years and he fits what they’re looking for at quarterback.
