One of the best receivers in the entire 2022 class happens to be right from LSU’s backyard. Shazz Preston, a four-star prospect from Saint James, La., has four SEC teams high on his list right now and — you guessed it — LSU is one of them.

Some might actually argue that LSU is leading the way for the No. 67 prospect in the class who is also ranked the ninth-best receiver. He’s Louisiana’s third-best recruit.

Ed Orgeron has to put in some work here to keep him away from the likes of Ole Miss, Alabama and Mississippi State, but the Tigers are in a good spot, especially with proximity and the fact that they won a national title last year. For local kids, winning titles and staying close to home is a huge draw and Preston got to witness LSU win it all right in his own backyard.

Plus, LSU has a storied recent history of putting receivers in the NFL and watching them succeed at the next level (Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson, Jarvis Landy, DJ Chark and soon-to-be Ja’Marr Chase).

Preston could follow that same path to the NFL and make a nice three or four-year pitstop in Baton Rouge for some title contention.
