This rivalry is about two schools in the Northeast that have a dislike for each other that dates back to 1821, which is when Amherst was founded as a rival school to Williams College.
But it did gain some national recognition on the gridiron back in 2003 when College Gameday made an appearance for the annual showdown between the Mammoths and Ephs.
The two teams play in the New England Small College Athletic Conference and have been playing football against each other since 1884, which makes it one of the most played games in college football history.
During this storied rivalry, there have been three scoreless ties. As far as players in the NFL, there haven’t been many, although Jean Fugett of Amherst had a Pro Bowl season for the Cowboys in 1977 as they won the Super Bowl.
