Florida State football is hoping for a bounce-back season and a to return to a bowl game under second-year head coach Mike Norvell.

There is no other way to say it: the product that Florida State Football has been putting out on the field the past few seasons has been dreadful.

The leadership in the locker room has been poor, recruits have not lived up to the hype and there has been a lack of development at the quarterback position. After a really bad debut season that was filled with blowout losses and COVID cancellations, Florida State football coach Mike Norvell is hoping that some new transfers can bring some leadership to the younger players and can result in a more mature team that can return to a bowl game in 2021.

Teams that are struggling to recruit and are losing on the field are apt to look to the transfer portal to try to find immediate results while they try to pick up recruiting and player development.

Florida State was one of the most active teams in the portal and got a potential steal in former UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton. Milton was a star at UCF until a really bad knee injury in 2018 cut his time at UCF short and has kept him on the sideline for the last two seasons. If Milton is anything like his old self, that raises the ceiling of the team a pretty good bit.

Another transfer that could make a big impact is Georgia LB Jermaine Johnson. Johnson should help out a pass rush that is missing a lot of key players up front.

The schedule for the Seminoles is not an easy one in 2021. They open with Notre Dame and also have games against Clemson, Miami, North Carolina and Florida. It will not be easy for Florida State to get back to a bowl game in 2021.

Here are my way too early predictions for Florida State’s schedule in 2021.
