Oct 2. Tallahassee (FL). 5. player. Syracuse Orange. 827. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Florida State will have a third straight game vs a division opponent and it should be one that they can win. Syracuse was the worst team in the division other than the Seminoles last season and I think it could be another season at the bottom of the standings for head coach Dino Babers and the Orange. Syracuse has not been able to replicate its success of the 2018 season and it has put Babers on the hot seat heading into this season.

This is another one of those games that Florida State football must win if it has any hope of making the postseason. Syracuse is another program that I don’t feel confident about heading into this season and I think it is a good opportunity to add to the win column.

Final Score: Florida State 38, Syracuse 14 (4-1, 3-0 ACC)

North Carolina Tar Heels. Oct 9. Chapel Hill (NC). 6. player. 838. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Florida State has benefitted from an easy schedule to start out, but from this point on, every game but one will be a difficult win for the Seminoles.

For their second trip to the state of North Carolina, Florida State will head to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina, who should be a preseason top-10 team in 2021. The high point of the season for Florida State was when they were able to beat the then fourth-ranked Tar Heels in Tallahassee, but it did not give them momentum for the rest of the season.

If Florida State is hoping to pull another upset of the Tar Heels, the defense will have to force UNC quarterback Sam Howell to turn the ball over as he did in last season’s matchup. This North Carolina offense will once again be dynamic, even with some skill position losses. While they were able to get the win last season, I think North Carolina is in for a special season in 2021. This game might not be close.

Final Score: Florida State 21, North Carolina 44 (4-2, 3-1 ACC)
