Can the Bulldogs defeat Alabama and claim an SEC title for Georgia football?

There are times where teams have to take a step back to take a step forward. That could be said of the Georgia Bulldogs. Last season, Jake Fromm decided to declare for the NFL Draft. In the same offseason, head coach Kirby Smart decided to hire former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Todd Monken to open the offense.

The signs were initially encouraging. Quarterback Jamie Newman transferred from Wake Forest to compete for the starting QB job left open by Fromm. Not long after, USC quarterback JT Daniels announced his intentions to transfer from Los Angeles to Athens.

Then the pandemic hit and shut everything down. Newman decided to opt out this season and never playing a single down for the Bulldogs. Daniels was not yet medically cleared to play and the starting duties were given to Stetson Bennett.

Bennett played admirably, but it was clear that the Bulldogs vertical game was limited because of who was playing quarterback. Bennett had his struggles against Alabama, Kentucky and Florida, losing two of three.

Daniels made his debut against Mississippi State throwing for over 400 yards and four touchdowns. His presence on the field made a huge difference for the Bulldogs as they went on to win their last four games including the Peach Bowl against Cincinnati.

What will this season bring? These are three questions Georgia football will have to address in the offseason.
