Who is this season’s lockdown corner for Georgia?

There is not a position group that has suffered more attrition for the Bulldogs than the secondary. Georgia loses five defensive backs from last season’s team including safety Ricard LeCounte and cornerback Eric Stokes.

Perhaps the biggest loss for the Bulldogs is defensive backs coach Charlton Warren who left to become the defensive coordinator at Indiana after their defensive coordinator, Kane Wommack left to become South Alabama’s head coach.

Though incoming coach Jahmile Addae has some big shoes to fill, the West Virginia grad did help construct the nation’s number one pass defense. Who will fill out the secondary. Here are some possibilities:

  • Kelee Ringo (CB): Ringo was the crown jewel of Georgia football’s number one rated 2020 class. The Arizona high school prospect was the top cornerback in the nation in 2020 and fourth overall prospect. Ringo had a torn labrum that should be fine this season. Expect big things from Ringo.
  • Jalen Kimber (CB): Kimber is an underrated piece of Georiga’s vaunted 2020 recruiting class. The primary reason for this is Kimber is still a bit raw. The Texas native has all the athletic upside to be a great cover corner, it needs to come together with his technique.
  • Latavious Brini (STAR): Brini is the veteran of a fairly inexperience secondary. Thought Brini has not played a lot, he is a fifth-year senior that has been in the program and waited for an opportunity to start. This is his season and he should slide right in taking the place of the outgoing Mark Webb at the STAR position.
  • Lewis Cine (Safety): Cine had the responsibility of replacing LeCounte last season after the standout safety opted out of the season. Cine, a sophomore last was thrown into the fire last season and played well. This year, Cine comes into the season knowing that he is the starter. Expect him to be one of the secondary leaders this year.
