DeVonta Smith had an unreal season with Alabama football in 2020 which catapulted him up NFL draft big boards. Which spots would be best for him?

Did anyone improve their NFL draft stock more than DeVonta Smith this past season? He was the focal point for a national championship offense and helped carry the Tide to a perfect season.

Smith went from one of the best receivers in the country after a 1,200-yard, 14-touchdown season in 2019 to the best player in college football with over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2020. His rise to superstardom was impressive and he went from a first-round possibility to a near top-10 lock.

A lot of teams in that top-10 range will also be looking to add a receiver in the first round but not all of them would be the best fits for Smith.

Let’s take a look at the most ideal, and realistic, landing spots for Smith.

3. Cincinnati Bengals (No. 4)

One of the bright young offenses in the NFL, Cincinnati is building around last year’s No. 1 overall pick, Joe Burrow.

The former Heisman winner could be joined by the reigning Heisman winner in DeVonta Smith and while the Bengals also need some offensive tackle help, this pick just makes too much sense. They could also go for Oregon’s Penei Sewell which wouldn’t be a bad pick, but adding Smith to an already-dynamic offense would be huge.

Look at an offense with Smith, Burrow, Joe Mixon, Trayveon Williams, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd and try to find weaknesses at the skill positions. That’s an elite receiving trio along with a budding running back duo and one of the best young quarterbacks in the league.

Cincinnati may not be playoff bound in 2021, but adding a dominant receiver like Smith won’t only help Burrow, but it’ll make life miserable for opposing defenses.
