USC football will start off the October slate with a road trip to Boulder to take on Colorado. The Buffaloes had a surprise season under first-year head coach Karl Dorrell and Colorado will look to be a surprise again. The Buffaloes were close to playing for the Pac 12 championship but did not get the chance to play USC. Colorado is hoping to pull the upset at home this season and have a chance to win the Pac 12 South.

Colorado was a great story last season and there are pieces on the team for them to be solid once again. I don’t think that they will be able to pull off the upset at home however vs the Trojans. Expect some points here.

Final Score: USC 38, Colorado 28 (5-0, 4-0 Pac 12)

This will be the most challenging game to date for the Trojans and one that will be crucial to winning the Pac 12 South. USC has won the past two vs the Utes and last year’s game was not particularly close. I think that Utah will have a bounce-back season and be very competitive in the Pac 12 and will certainly be a threat to winning the South.

When I think of this game, the first thing I think of is the massive coaching disadvantage that USC is at. Utah’s Kyle Whittingham is one of the best coaches in the country and usually outcoaches Helton when these two teams play.

Utah might be turning to Baylor transfer Charlie Brewer at quarterback, and while Brewer is not spectacular, he was solid in leading Baylor out of tough times. I think this will be another hard-fought game that Utah will win and snap their losing streak to the Trojans.

Final Score: USC 28, Utah 31 (5-1, 4-1 Pac 12)
