Big 12 Football best players of all-time: 7. Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M football
Von Miller is a name that strikes fear into the hearts of opposing quarterbacks and has been so for quite a long time now. Miller played on the defensive line and at linebacker for the Texas A&M Aggies and was excellent when it came to rushing off the edge.
He really broke out in his third season with 47 tackles (21.5 going for a loss) and 17 sacks. This came after he moved from playing as an undersized defensive end to a linebacker who would be used to rush the quarterback off the edge.
On top of that, He also broke up five passes and forced four fumbles, showing off his versatility. Miller earned his first of two All-American Team nominations. He then followed that up with another strong performance, registering another 10.5 sacks and a personal-best 68 tackles. He also recorded his first career interception and won the Butkus Award for being the best linebacker in the nation.
Miller was the No. 2 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and only continued to dominate. He was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and then helped lead the Denver Broncos to a win in Super Bowl 50. He was even named the MVP of that Super Bowl game and was given a monstrous contract the following offseason, setting a new standard for elite pass-rushers in the NFL in the process.
