2. Jalon Jones and Geremy Hickbottom gave their teams a chance

At Jackson State, Deion Sanders has made his declaration. “Coach Prime” has put the SWAC on notice telling every team to get them this year because it is game over next year. One reason is the recruiting class Sanders is bringing next fall.

Though the 1973-74 Tigers might disagree, this is supposed to be the best class for an HBCU ever. A member of the incoming class includes Sheduer Sanders, Deion’s son, a four-star from Cedar Hill, Texas.

Incumbent quarterback Florida transfer Jalon Jones uses his best Lee Corso voice, saying, “Not so fast, my friend.” Jones was efficient and effective once again in today’s victory at Eddie G Robinson Stadium.

Jones had 222 total yards with a touchdown in the air and on the ground, proving he would not give up the starting job without a fight. On the other side of the line of scrimmage, Grambling quarterback Geremy Hickbottom has improved his weakness from last season.

Dubbed a great athlete by coaches and scouts alike, Hickbottom’s passing needed tinkering. Today’s performance today showed the redshirt senior from Mobile has worked on passing while still being a threat with his legs.

Both quarterbacks played well and allowed their team to win the game in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for Grambling, a fumble at the goal line cost them the game.
