Ja’Marr Chase will be one of the first receivers chosen in the 2021 NFL Draft. Which landing spots would be the best for the LSU football star?

Ja’Marr Chase was arguably the best receiver in college football in 2019, catching 84 passes for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was a top pro prospect. The problem? He was just a sophomore.

Chase had to wait another year to enter the NFL draft and join his quarterback Joe Burrow. He had to come back for the 2020 season but given the uncertainty of the year due to COVID-19, he opted out in order to prepare for the draft. Chase had an impressive, but short, career in Baton Rouge and he didn’t even need to play in 2020 because he was already considered the WR1 or WR2 for the 2021 NFL Draft.

There are about 10-15 teams who could realistically take a receiver in the first round but only a handful who will have a chance at snagging Chase.

Which spots would be the most ideal for the elite wide out from LSU?

3. Detroit Lions (No. 7)

With the Lions announcing that they won’t be franchise-tagging Kenny Golladay, effectively making him a free agent this offseason, Detroit has to be looking at the NFL draft for the next WR1.

Sure, Detroit just added Tyrell Williams in free agency, but that’s not going to cut it. Marvin Jones is also gone which means that there are basically no wide outs on the roster that scream “go-to” for new quarterback Jared Goff.

Detroit could go with a quarterback in the first round if they don’t feel like Goff can hold the Lions over for a couple of years and if someone like Justin Fields is still available, but receiver or some defensive position would have to be the priorities right now.

And it’s not like receivers can’t have success in Detroit. Calvin Johnson is one of the best receivers of all time and Golladay was on his way to a nice career in Detroit before this latest news.

Ja’Marr Chase would immediately become a WR1 for the Lions.
