BYU football had quite a showing during the 2020 season but will we see a step backward for the Cougars in the year ahead?

BYU football was no joke last season, or at least they weren’t against the competition they faced. But COVID-19 should not put nearly as much of a damper (if one at all) on the Cougars’ schedule this time around.

In their 2021 regular season slate, they play a plethora of Power Five foes, predominantly hailing from the Pac-12. So it is safe to say that if BYU wins enough games to earn a brag-worthy bowl bid, then the year was a success.

But the chances of the Cougars going 11-1 with this approaching stretch are virtually nonexistent. The team that was easily BYU’s most formidable challenge was Coastal Carolina (a Sun Belt team) and the Chanticleers won. That speaks much louder than obliterating Western Kentucky.

And losing stud quarterback Zach Wilson is not too fun, either.

What games will trip up the Cougars this year? What will their final record be? Will they even make a bowl game? Let’s find out.

Here are the game-by-game predictions for the 2021 BYU football team.
