When it comes to landing sports for Alabama football’s Mac Jones, here are three NFL teams that could benefit from taking him in the NFL draft.

After a truly incredible season for Alabama football, former Crimson Tide quarterback Mac Jones is one of the most talented quarterbacks available in the 2021 NFL draft class.

Jones may not be rated as highly as Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Zach Wilson of BYU, even Justin Fields out of Ohio State, but there’s doubt he should be a first-round pick, and just last week, Mel Kiper Jr., an ESPN NFL draft analyst, said he didn’t see Jones going past 15th to New England. Here’s what Kiper said via InsideHook:

"“I think New England would be the furthest he would be able to drop,” Kiper told InsideHook during a Monday conference call. “I think he certainly could go in the top 10. With the season he had and the way he played in the National Championship Game, boy, he boosted his stock as far as he could. His leadership, competitiveness and what he did at the Senior Bowl … all that is going to make him a top-15 pick.”"

New England Patriots

Kiper mentioned the Patriots and them taking Jones with the 15th pick. That’s possible but it seems like there’s a decent chance Jones goes in the Top 10.

He completed 77 percent of his throws last season for Alabama football and over the last two years, he has thrown 55 touchdown passes compared to seven interceptions.

All of his statistics are impressive. He also stood out in the Senior Bowl, played for Nick Saban and has a really good arm. He may not be a transcendent talent, but he’s proven he knows how to win games and the Patriots would be a great fit.

Just because Cam Newton signed doesn’t mean that the Patriots aren’t going to pick a quarterback. Cam has been injury prone and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Patriots look to the future with their first-round pick.

That would give Jones a chance to develop behind Newton and if Newton got hurt again this season, the Patriots would have a viable option because Jared Stidham isn’t it.

Going to New England would also give Jones a chance to play for a winner early in his career and the greatest head coach in NFL history.
