After the commitment of wide receiver Isaiah Sategna, the 2022 Texas A&M football recruiting class has climbed into the top five in the nation.

The 2022 Texas A&M Football recruiting class has eight commits, most recently adding wide receiver Isaiah Sategna to the fold. Sategna is the No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas, but only the sixth-highest rated player in the Aggies’ class. It’s things like that which underscore just how swiftly Jimbo Fisher has raised the bar on the recruiting front for Texas A&M.

Fisher led Florida State to the 2014 National Championship. Not coincidentally, that season also marked the first of four consecutive top-seven recruiting classes for Fisher and the Seminoles. Along the way, Florida State remained a mainstay in the Top 10.

Now at Texas A&M, Fisher has posted the No. 4, No. 6 and No. 7 nationally ranked recruiting classes. The addition of Satenga to the upcoming haul upped the Ags from No. 8 to No. 5 in the 2022 ranks. Texas A&M hasn’t made it to any national championship games yet, but the talent profiles between Fisher’s prior and current locals share a striking resemblance.

There’s a long time between now and the Early Signing Period in December, but it doesn’t feel like much of a stretch to assume the Aggies will bring in at least another Top 10 class this season.

Which harkens back to something Fisher said about the Aggies’ recruiting upswing earlier this year. “It shows the trajectory we’re on and what we’re trying to accomplish, that we’re relevant in national conversations,” he said. Relevance. Something Texas A&M has been aspiring to for some time, might very well be in reach.
