1. The quarterback battle

Kellen Mond gave a lot to this program and he may never be as appreciated as he should be due to the fact that he never truly because that All-SEC quarterback that people expected.

Mond did have a really good senior year, passing for over 2,200 yards and 19 touchdowns with three interceptions and a career-best 63 percent completion rate. He also rushed for 294 yards and four touchdowns on 4.0 yards per carry. He did end his career on a high note as Texas A&M went 9-1 and finished fourth in the AP Poll.

Now that Mond is gone and four years of starting experience are washed away just like that for Jimbo Fisher and Co., the Aggies will be forced to find his replacement.

The early options are Zach Calzada and Haynes King.

Calzada is a redshirt sophomore who has 24 career pass attempts, completing 12 of them for 133 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He didn’t see any action last year as King acted as Mond’s backup. King, on the other hand, is a true sophomore who was 2-for-4 with 50 yards, a touchdown, an interception and 43 rushing yards on seven attempts.

Eli Stowers is another name to watch as the four-star freshman from Denton, Texas, enrolled early in the 2021 class and he’s going to push the vets.
