5. Texas Tech (W)

TCU’s first away game of the 2021 season, and it is versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders. I guess some teams just have all the luck.

The Raiders are easily the worst team in the Big 12 not named after a cartoon bird. Texas Christian winning this game by four scores would be an appropriate projection.

Record: 5-0, 2-0

6. Oklahoma (L)

Everybody knew it was coming. Oklahoma is unavoidable when you play in their conference. While TCU will ultimately bounce back a good deal following this defeat, it will nonetheless expose their limits as a contender to a blatant degree. Oklahoma will easily win by three scores, at least.

Record: 5-1, 2-1

7. West Virginia (W)

WVU is just not what it was back in 2018. Flashy, exciting, offensively unstoppable. But they can still play with the scrappy southwest sometimes.

The Mountaineers will head into Fort Worth to face the Frogs, and TCU’s loss the week prior will be a leading cause in the game being more contested than it usually would be. But Texas Christian will stand to pull it out by a margin of anywhere between 10 and 20 points.

Record: 6-1, 3-1

8. Kansas State (W)

This will be one of those “hollow victories” that people always talk about. In other words, TCU will keep their elite record alive in a narrow contest that holds a sizable chance of getting ugly over a span of four hard-hitting quarters.

Record: 7-1, 4-1
