Wake Forest Football: 2021 game-by-game predictions for Demon Deacons
By Austin Lloyd
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are no easy victory for anyone in the Atlantic Coast Conference not named Clemson. Can 2021 also depict such a status?
Wake Forest Football has virtually never been “great” at the whole CFB thing, but the past four or five years have led them to better days than what the program has historically been used to.
In the last five seasons, Wake Forest football has made a bowl game every single time (a school record) and has had at least seven wins in each year except 2020. In the weakened ACC, the idea of Wake Forest ripping off a surprisingly strong run is not unimaginable.
Throughout this stretch of success for the Deacs, they have displayed powerful performances of both offensive and defensive prowess. While they lose some of their star power for the latter heading into next season (most namely defensive end Carlos “Boogie” Basham Jr.), they still possess some playmakers that kept their offense alive in 2020, including but not limited to quarterback Sam Hartman and running back Christian Beal-Smith.
So Wake Forst football has the precedent that the Demon Deacons have set for themselves, the winnable conference, and the impact players appropriate for having a strong showing in 2021, but what about their official schedule?
Can Wake Forest perform consistently enough against their upcoming foes to make some serious noise, and possibly shake up the entire Atlantic Coast Conference as a result? Here are the game-by-game predictions for the Demon Deacons in the season to come.
