2. Matt Corral’s decision-making, consistency

Matt Corral was one of the biggest surprises in college football last season, passing for 3,337 yards and 29 touchdowns with a completion percentage of over 70 after splitting time under center with John Rhys Plumlee the year before. He clearly took over that starting role and it had fans wondering why the heck Matt Luke didn’t get this type of production out of him.

Now he’s entering his second full season as a starter but there’s one concern about his style of play. While he can throw for 400-plus yards in any given game, he can also throw 4-5 interceptions.

Decision-making was lackluster in 2020 and he could look like a Heisman candidate one game and the next he was throwing interception after interception. If he improved that decision-making and consistency, he would become one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

It’ll be interesting to see if he takes that next step as a quarterback and if, during the spring game, he avoids the turnover bug and makes good decisions instead of throwing into double coverage.

Corral has all the talent, but he needs to improve his mindset with the ball in his hands. No more hero ball.
