Zach Wilson, 49ers

Zach Wilson ending up with the 49ers in the 2021 NFL draft probably isn’t that likely, but it’s possible and it would be a great landing spot for Wilson.

One thing that was great for Patrick Mahomes, was that he fell a little bit and wound up with a pretty organization in the Kansas City Chiefs. Andy Reid had Alex Smith and didn’t force Mahomes on the field right away.

The 49ers could do the same thing with Jimmy Garoppolo. Other teams are interested in him and will continue to be. The 49ers can play Jimmy if Zach Wilson isn’t quite ready and when he is, Jimmy G will still be solid trade bait.

For Wilson, it would put him on a team that has the ability to contend right away. The 49ers had a top-five defense in terms of yards allowed and with better play from the offense, the scoring defense could improve too.

Remember, this team was in the Super Bowl just two years ago and if you give Kyle Shanahan the right quarterback, great things will happen, which is why it would be worth it for San Francisco to mortgage the future and trade up.
