Iowa State football is one of the preseason favorites to win the Big 12 title in 2021 and here are early game-by-game predictions for the Cyclones.

After a magical 2020 season, easily the best season in the history of Iowa State football, the Cyclones are getting ready to run it back in 2021.

Iowa State football is going to have some turnover, just as every college football program does, but the Cyclones have a number of key players back including quarterback Brock Purdy, star running back Breece Hall and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Mike Rose.

Those aren’t the only pieces returning, however, those are pretty significant. Not many teams fresh off a Fiesta Bowl victory, as well as a 9-3 season, are loaded with that kind of talent and experience coming back.

On the offensive side of the ball alone, Iowa State is returning five First-Team All-Big 12 performers. Xavier Hutchinson was also the Offensive Newcomer of the Year in the Big 12.

The Cyclones also bring back two All-Big 12 defenders and the Defensive Co-Freshman of the Year in defensive back Isheem Young.

It’s safe to say that this Iowa State football team is loaded. We all know that Oklahoma is too, but even with that knowledge, there isn’t a game on the 2021 schedule the Cyclones can’t win.

They have shown the ability to beat teams they probably shouldn’t and also win games away from home, such as at Texas and Oklahoma last season.

Matt Campbell is still the head coach and there’s plenty of reason to expect double-digit wins in 2021. How many exactly should Iowa State football fans expect? Here are our pre-spring game-by-game predictions for the Cyclones.
