2021 NFL Mock Draft: First-round projections after trades, free agency
Trading down is always risky but the Lions wind up getting the wide receiver they wanted while also accumulating draft picks in the trade down with New England.
This could allow the Lions to address other needs in the second round of the draft, maybe even with a younger quarterback to develop behind Jared Goff.
But for now, they get the former No. 1 overall pick a really nice weapon, as well as a chance to fill needs throughout their roster.
The Cardinals wound up in a pretty good spot here because if Waddle falls to them, that would an easy selection, but if not, Arizona can wait and take the best defensive back available, which proves to be Caleb Farley out of Virginia Tech.
Arizona could try to trade down and draft a wide receiver, but as we’ve said before, there are going to be some good receivers in round 2 also, so Farley becomes the pick here at 16.
