Florida State football completed its spring game over the weekend and here are three thoughts on the Seminoles after spring ball.

Florida State football fans have waited to see McKenzie Milton in his Seminoles uniform and they got their wish this past Saturday in the FSU spring game.

Although the score wasn’t kept, the offense and defense went head-to-head for two quarters. The offense reportedly scored 20 points and the defense notched seven stops according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

The Seminoles entered the spring fresh off a disappointing 3-6 campaign under first-year head coach Mike Norvell.

One thing Norvell and Florida State tried to do in order to rectify the problems from a year ago, was hitting the transfer portal hard, which is where the Noles landed Milton.

Yet, it appears that Milton has work to do if he wants to be the starter and there’s what we start our breakdown of Florida State spring ball.

It’s a real QB battle

Jordan Travis was the starter last season for Florida State football, but once Milton came aboard, most assumed he would end up taking the job in 2021.

Well so far in the spring, it’s been a tough competition and right now, you’d have to give Travis the slight edge.

Of course, Milton is trying to find his way after missing a long time due to injury, and Saturday, he was impressive completing 6 of 11 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.

But Travis was just as good, if not better. He completed 8-for-14 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. He also had a pair of nice runs, as did Milton. Here’s what Norvell said about his QBs via Rivals:

"“I think McKenzie finished up this week and did a really nice job of trusting the process. Jordan Travis had a phenomenal spring. I’m really excited about the improvements he’s making as a passer. … These guys are going to push each other. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”"

Translation? This quarterback battle is far from over.
