Portal is paying dividends

Florida State football was aggressive in adding talent through the transfer portal and so far, it looks like that was a good plan.

Of all the guys who stood out for the Noles during their scrimmage, none was better than Jermaine Johnson, an edge rusher who transferred from Georgia.

According to Warchant.com, Johnson had a hurry and two sacks, as well as making other impact plays. Here’s what Travis told the site about Johnson:

"“Jermaine, I mean … he’s a beast,” Travis said. “Every single play, he’s in the backfield making something happen. He’s a great player, and I’m very thankful he’s on our side.”"

DJ Williams, a running back from Auburn, caught four passes for 30 yards, while defensive backs Jammie Robinson and Jarques McClellion were also productive. Robinson had a sack and McClellion was credited with a pass breakup.

It’s always hard to predict how transfers are going to fit in but so far, Norvell and company have to be pleased with the contributions they are getting, especially on defense.
