If you read the title of this and assumed that I’m vastly overreacting, you’d be half-right. The Bryce Young era officially started on Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa as the Tide hosted their annual spring game and the young quarterback looked like a budding superstar.

Yes, I understand it’s a spring game and you can’t put too much stock into it, but Young torched Alabama’s defense and put up some gaudy numbers.

Young completed 25-of-44 passes for 333 yards and a touchdown with no picks, earning the MVP of the spring game. He showed just why he was considered a threat to Mac Jones before the start of the 2020 season and while Nick Saban made the right choice going with the veteran, obviously, he let his young five-star develop and learn and he’s already looking like a Heisman contender.

Bryce Young the latest in a long line of successful Alabama QBs

Remember when we thought Jalen Hurts was going to be Saban’s best quarterback ever and then he was replaced by Tua Tagovailoa who was his best and then there was supposed to be a drop-off when Jones took over? Yeah, that didn’t happen as he, too, was a Heisman threat.

Now Young might be the most naturally-gifted quarterback Saban has ever had and he’s proving it one snap at a time against four and five-star defenders.

There’s no better test of how good a player is than how he performs against Alabama’s defense.

Young made Alabama’s defense look like Ole Miss’ during the spring game and put up some video game-like numbers and showcased incredible pocket awareness and a strong arm.

Young makes good decisions, his awareness is impeccable, and his ball placement is elite.

It may be an overreaction after a strong spring game, but I truly believe Young could end up being Saban’s best quarterback yet — and that’s a scary thought for the rest of college football.
