Clemson Football: Predicting where top prospects land in 2021 NFL Draft
The last of Clemson’s top prospects is wide receiver Amari Rodgers, who projects as a nice slot option at the next level. Rodgers saw his draft stock go up after a solid week down at the Senior Bowl in Mobile and it could put him as high as round two.
Rodgers was the most experienced receiver on Clemson’s offense last season once Justyn Ross went down with an injury and he was a consistent down-the-field threat for Trevor Lawrence and the Tigers. He is a very good route runner and gets out of breaks with great quickness and that ability will translate well at the next level.
Any team that is looking to add receiver depth will look to take Rodgers and I think one of those teams could be the New Orleans Saints at No. 60.
The Saints have had to make lots of changes this offseason and one of them was the loss of Emmanuel Sanders in the receiver room. Sanders’ departure means there is no clear-cut option behind Michael Thomas on the depth chart and it would not be surprising to see them add a receiver early on in the draft this season.
Rodgers would be a great fit in Sean Payton’s offense.
Projection: No. 60 overall to the Saints
