Pick Analysis. player. 59. Scouting Report. DE. Miami. Jaelan Phillips. 1

The first Hurricane off the board on draft night will be Jaelan Phillps and for his new team, he won’t have to move an inch. The Dolphins are a team that is in need of pass rush help and with their second first-round pick of the night, I think that they will take Phillps.

Phillips is an athletic specimen at 6-foot-5, 266 pounds and it showed at the team’s pro day. He had eight sacks for the Hurricanes last season and showed why he was the No. 1 ranked player when he came out of high school in 2017.

The Dolphins have been lacking at pass rush ever since Cameron Wake started slowing down and they have not been able to find an adequate replacement to an already good defense. With no consensus top edge rusher in this year’s draft class, I think that the Dolphins will have their pick and use it on the ultra-talented end from Miami.

Projection: No. 18 overall to the Dolphins
