Ohio State Football: Predicting where top Buckeyes land in NFL draft
After a run to the national championship game in 2020, Ohio State Football has some of the best prospects in this years NFL draft
It’s no secret that Ohio State Football has had one of the most talented rosters in the country since Urban Meyer took over in 2012 and then transitioned to Ryan Day in 2019.
Ohio State year after year puts some of the best talent into the NFL draft and while there is just one can’t miss prospect in this year’s draft for the Buckeyes, keep an eye on some of the later picks that could develop into starters at some point down the road.
Leading the way for the Buckeyes in the 2021 draft is quarterback Justin Fields. Fields has been the most scrutinized of the top QB’s leading up to the draft this year and he presents one of the most intriguing storylines to watch early in the first round next Thursday.
Fields has all of the tools to be an all-pro-level quarterback in the NFL and I think teams might be overthinking his flaws in the lead-up to the draft this year.
Other guys on the offensive side of the ball that should get drafted are running back Trey Sermon and offensive linemen Wyatt Davis. Davis was once thought to be a first-round prospect, but a shaky 2020 season has lowered his draft status a bit.
Sermon was a wonderful addition to the Buckeyes after coming over from Oklahoma in 2020. Sermon was the engine of the offense whenever Fields had off games and he raised his draft stock in 2020.
Defensively, there is not one prospect that stands out among the others for Ohio State. Cornerback Shaun Wade was thought to be a first-round talent, but he had a really bad season in 2020 and it is unclear where he going to land. Linebackers Baron Browning, Tuff Borland, and Pete Warner were solid college players but might not project well at the next level.
Here is where I think the top Ohio State football prospects will land in the 2021 NFL draft
