After a subpar season in 2020, Penn State Football still has some of the most talented prospects in the entire draft

Penn State Football was thought to be a contender for the college football playoff in 2020, but some injuries and opt-outs in the preseason led to a disappointing start, but the Nittany Lions did manage to finish the season strong and create optimism for next season.

Because of that optimism, Penn State did not have many guys enter the 2021 NFL draft, but the ones that did have some of the highest ceilings in the entire draft.

Penn State’s best prospect will be linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons is a name that all football fans have known for some time, as Parsons was one of the best recruits in the country coming out of high school and was an instant impact player as soon as he arrived in Happy Valley.

Drawing comparisons to Isaiah Simmons, who was a top ten pick at linebacker last season, Parsons is a do-it-all linebacker with top-notch athleticism. With the ability to rush the passer and play in coverage on third down as well, expect Parsons to come off the board early when the draft starts on Thursday.

Penn State’s other two prospects also come on the defensive side of the ball. The Nittany Lions had one of the best pairs of edge rushers in the Big Ten last season in Jayson Oweh and Shaka Toney and both guys have some NFL appeal.

Oweh was the talk of Penn State’s pro day, being clocked in at a sub 4.40 forty-yard dash. Toney was the more consistent of the two last season, but Oweh’s ceiling is perceived to be much higher because of his athleticism.

While they may not have a bulk of prospects in this draft, this crop of Penn State football players is certainly talented. Here is where I think each of them will land.
