Penn State Football: Predicting where top draft prospects land
One of the most talented players in the draft is Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons is the kind of player that every NFL team covets because of his skill set to play on every down. Parsons is a solid run defender on early downs, has the ability to play in coverage, and is a threat on the edge to rush the passer.
There are not many guys like that in today’s NFL and that is why Parsons should come off the board early. The thing that is concerning about Parsons is his off-field concerns. It will be interesting to watch to see if those issues could cause some teams to pass on Parsons and he could see a fall on draft night.
I think there are plenty of teams in the upper half of the first round that could target the talented linebacker. The Detroit Lions are a hard team to guess for right now because if a quarterback falls, the Lions could trade down or even take the quarterback or they could take a wide receiver. Under new head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions are building a new identity, and adding a multi-dimensional talent like Parsons will be a nice building block for the defense.
Projection: Seventh overall to the Detroit Lions
