Ian Book, Notre Dame

If you draft Ian Book, you’re getting a guy that simply knows how to win. Book led the Fighting Irish to the College Football Playoff twice in his career en route to becoming the winningest quarterback in Notre Dame history as well as never losing a game at home.

Book is another game manager type but can take over a game with his arm or his feet. Book was solid albeit sometimes frustrating to watch. He’s a great leader as he was a two time captain for Notre Dame.

Book finished his Irish career with a 30-5 record. He threw for 8,948 yards, 72 touchdowns and just 20 interceptions. He was an effective runner, rushing for 1,517 yards and 17 touchdowns. He doesn’t have the strongest arm, but he makes up for it with his mostly smart decision making.

The 6′, 215 pound quarterback doesn’t have the typical size of an NFL quarterback and in fact he’s on the smaller side. He doesn’t let that deter him, and adds to the chip on his shoulder.

There were moments where Book was downright infuriating to watch. He would make horrendous decisions, throw to nobody or try to force a throw into a place it had no business going.

Book is overall a good late round prospect. Most of his issues can be fixed with time. His ability to control a game on offense is a huge benefit an something that not all prospects in the draft possess.

Despite where he’s drafted, Book could have the best career by a Notre Dame quarterback since Jimmy Clausen (which admittedly, isn’t saying much.) Either way, don’t sleep on Book’s potential at the next level.
