2021 NFL Mock Draft: Mac Jones explodes into top 5 in final edition
Detroit made some changes to the front office this offseason and also a huge overhaul to the roster with Matthew Stafford being dealt to the Rams for Jared Goff. The Lions also lost Kenny Golladay in free agency and added Tyrell Williams and Breshad Perriman to the receiving corps. Will that be enough to make up for the loss of Golladay? Absolutely not.
Quintez Cephus could be a solid starter as well, but Detroit is going to need to add some receivers in this year’s draft and why not start at No. 7 overall?
The Lions could go with Justin Fields here but the addition of Goff makes me feel like they will be looking more toward a receiver or linebacker. If it’s the former, Ja’Marr Chase needs to be the choice, especially since I think DeVonta Smith will already be off the board. If Chase goes to the Dolphins, the Lions need to take Smith.
Either way, Detroit will be landing an elite receiver here and Chase had himself quite the sophomore season at LSU before opting out in 2020. He had 84 catches for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns, helping LSU win a national title.
This would be a much-needed weapon for Goff and the offense.
