Caleb Farley is undoubtedly a first-round talent and had he not gotten injured in 2019 and opted out of the 2020 season, he may have been talked about as a top-10 pick.

Well, the Titans got lucky and picked him at No. 22 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The talented Virginia Tech cornerback had injury issues throughout his career but he was still a menace during his breakout season in 2019. He posted 20 tackles with four interceptions and 12 pass deflections. If he can show that he’s not afraid to come up and make tackles, he’s going to be a star — also if he can stay healthy.

Not too shabby for a former wide receiver recruit.

Health concerns prevalent with Caleb Farley

Throughout his career, Farley suffered plenty of injuries. He missed the final couple of games in his breakout 2019 season and then opted out of the 2020 campaign in order to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft. It seemed like the smart move considering how much he was hampered over his college career and he’s coming off back surgery in March.

There were plenty of concerns about drafting Farley, but he was a clear first-round talent and the Titans jumped at the opportunity to bring him in at No. 22.

Mel Kiper said it best on ESPN after the pick: Farley is a top-10 talent. He’s right. If Farley can get and remain healthy, he gives the Titans their future No. 1 cornerback and a guy who can lock down an opponent’s top receiver.

Farley is like a shadow and if he doesn’t miss a step when he returns from his back surgery, he’s going to be a scary sight for opposing receivers. The Titans definitely got better with this pick, assuming he remains healthy.
