Mills to Texans

Plenty of scouts and NFL teams really liked Davis Mills leading into the 2021 NFL draft. It wouldn’t have shocked me if he went off the board in the second round and things had gone differently, a team like New England might have tried to snatch him up.

The problem with Mills is that he’s only played 13 college games. He’s 6-foot-4 and completed 66 percent of his throws at Stanford, but threw just 18 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions.

Now, Stanford does use more of a run-based, west-coast system, so the passing numbers might not be what they are in other places. However, Mills is used to a pro-style system, has got a strong arm, and has proven to be an accurate passer.

Mills also might have the easiest path to becoming a starter. If Watson is traded, Mills would be competing with Tyrod Taylor for the job and if he flashes talent in Houston, who knows, he could be the guy heading into 2022.

Mond could be too in Minnesota. Trask? That only happens if Brady retires after this season, but Tom can’t play forever, can he?
