No.3 Los Angeles Chargers

Last year, the Los Angeles Chargers had a solid 2020 NFL Draft as they found their franchise quarterback in Justin Herbert and their defensive leader in linebacker Kenneth Murray. After an up-and-down season, the Chargers are looking to get back in the hunt for the playoffs under a new coaching staff under head coach Brandon Staley.

The Chargers were able to secure four of their most needed positions in their four picks in the third round. The Chargers took advantage of Northwestern offensive tackle Rashawn Slater slipping in the draft until they picked him up with the 13th overall pick. Slater is one of the most versatile and dominant offensive linemen in this draft. He will be a solid blindside protector for Herbert and a great run blocker.

In the second round with the 47th overall pick, the Chargers found a potential instant starter at the cornerback position in Florida State’s Asante Samuel Jr. With the Chargers’ two picks in the third round, they were able to give Herbert more reliable weapons.

Los Angeles selected Tennessee wide receiver, Josh Palmer, with the 77th overall pick and Georgia tight end Tre’ McKitty with the 97th overall pick.

The Chargers then addressed other position needs in undervalued prospects in Duke outside linebacker Chris Rumph II with the 118th overall (fourth round), another solid tackle in Nebraska’s Brenden James with the 159th overall pick (fifth round), and Iowa linebacker Nick Niemann with the 185th overall pick (sixth round).

Finally, the Chargers found two highly versatile players from the SEC in Missouri running back Larry Rountree III with the 198th overall (sixth round) and Georgia safety Mark Webb with the 241st overall pick (seventh round). Both Rountree and Webb are players that are better than what their draft selection indicates them.
