The transfer portal has started to explode in college football and here are 10 transfers who will have a major impact on the 2021 season.

College football has entered a new era, one that allows players to essentially transfer between programs without penalty.

Transfers have always played a role in college football but with the new rule which allows every player one free transfer without having to sit, it’s a gamechanger.

College football teams have the ability to go fill needs just like an NFL team in free agency. Need a running back? Quarterback? Receiver? The transfer portal has options at every position and even as we move past spring practices, there are still tons of players available.

But most of the elite players in the transfer portal have found new homes, including Henry To’o To’o who finally committed to Alabama last week.

Alabama has cleaned up in the transfer portal and the Tide aren’t alone. Here’s a list of the top 10 transfer portal additions, starting with a few that just missed the cut.

Tyler Shough, QB Texas Tech

There are a few veteran quarterbacks in consideration here and Shough, who was a grad transfer from Oregon, was certainly in the mix. He appears to be the leading candidate to start next season for the Red Raiders. He should also put up big numbers in Lubbock, which could lead to a nice season for Tech.

McKenzie Milton, QB FSU

Milton is one of the biggest names to change teams in the portal this offseason but he’s still working on getting back to 100 percent and he’s not even guaranteed to start for the Seminoles this fall. It wouldn’t shock me if he won the job, but we also don’t know if he can get back to being the player he once was at UCF.

Arik Gilbert, TE — ?

Right now, we still don’t know where Arik Gilbert is going to play next season. He announced he was going to Florida, then pulled back. There has been chatter that he could return to LSU but it’s hard to determine his impact until he picks a school.

Now, onto the top 10.
