Every year, the Oklahoma football team finds itself constantly reloading on elite talent. As a result, the Sooners will often not have these players for long as they go forward from the collegiate field to the NFL.

In the program’s history, Oklahoma football has seen 402 become NFL draft picks. That is the fourth-most among all the teams in college football.

This past 2021 NFL draft, the Sooners saw five of their players get drafted with one of them in the second. It was a surprise for a high-caliber program such as Oklahoma football that didn’t have a player go in the first round.

The last time the Sooners did not have a first-round selection was in the 2017 NFL Draft. The following two NFL Drafts, the Sooners saw their quarterback in Baker Mayfield (2018) and Kyler Murray (2019) become first overall picks in the Draft.

This year, the Sooners are expected to be one of the top competitors for the College Football Playoff again. They will be led by some high-caliber upper-classmen to get them there. These will be players that could be potential prospects for the 2022 NFL Draft including those that could be a first overall pick.

The Sooners have had six players in program history become the first overall selected with the first coming in the 1976 NFL Draft. Oklahoma could currently see three of their players become first-round selections in the next NFL Draft. Here are the top three Oklahoma prospects for the 2022 NFL Draft.
