Focus is starting to shift to the 2022 recruiting class for Nebraska football and here are five must-land targets for the Huskers.

For Nebraska football and programs across the country, recruiting is about to pick up a big way with official visits opening up in June.

The recruiting dead period has lasted for over a year. Still, Nebraska football did a solid job in the 2021 class, signing the 20th-ranked group overall and fifth among Big Ten teams according to the 247 sports team rankings.

But looking ahead to the 2022 recruiting class, Nebraska football has just two players committed so far. One is Columbus, Nebraska, linebacker Ernest Hausmann, a top-5 recruit in the state, as well as Florida wideout Victor Jones Jr.

Both are three-star prospects and Hausmann, in particular, was a huge get since he’s from Nebraska, where the Huskers have struck out on some key targets in 2022.

Yet, Frost and company are in the mix for some talented recruits in the class, and here are five that the Huskers must land in 2022.

4-star QB MJ Morris

The first name on the list is MJ Morris, who is a four-star quarterback prospect in the class of 2022. He was ranked in the top 100 not long ago but despite a dip, he’s still ranked No. 207 overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and sixth among dual-threat quarterbacks.

Morris has an impressive offer list that even includes Alabama and other SEC powers. But quarterbacks have been committing all over the place and many of those top schools already have a guy committed.

The highly-touted QB also visited Nebraska (self-guided) during the spring game. One Rivals expert says the Huskers are the favorite to land Morris but another said Georgia Tech is right there as a team to beat.

Morris is from Atlanta, Georgia so there could be some pull to stay home, yet he really seemed to enjoy his time in Lincoln, and Morris would be the highest-rated quarterback to sign since Adrian Martinez, which is why he’s got to be the priority right now.
