Ohio State Football: Elite WR trending from Michigan to Buckeyes
Michigan was once viewed as a favorite for four-star receiver Kaleb Brown, but now that distinction lies with Ohio State football.
Over the years, the Ohio State football program has turned into a recruiting juggernaut and for the most part, the Buckeyes land most of the recruits they want.
Michigan and other Big Ten programs have certainly had a tough time winning recruiting battles against Ohio State, which is one reason the Buckeyes currently have the No. 2 class in 2022 according to the 247 sports composite rankings.
It’s a class loaded with talent and if you believe the crystal ball predictions from 247 sports, Ohio State football is going to add another elite wideout to it in Kaleb Brown.
Brown is out of Chicago and plays at St. Rita. He’s 5-foot-11, 177 pounds, and is ranked 63rd overall in the 2022 recruiting class. Brown also ranks sixth nationally among receivers.
Ohio State is the clear favorite for Kaleb Brown
The Buckeyes were always viewed as a strong contender for Brown, however, they have moved into the pole position recently, particularly after Brown solidified his official visit which is going to take place on June 7.
As of right now, that’s the only official visit Brown has scheduled. Another school expected to get a visit is Michigan, which was once the crystal ball favorite for Brown, who has a connection to U-M quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who was part of the 2021 class.
Some of the leading experts in the Midwest for 247 sports have started predicting Brown to Ohio State in recent days and on Sunday, quite possibly the biggest crystal ball game in from Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts, the 247 sports site covering Ohio State.
That’s four predictions in less than a week for the Buckeyes and all of them have been at a confidence level of six or higher.
Now, crystal ball predictions can change. There was a time when Michigan had a lot of momentum. But Ohio State is excellent at closing and recruits know if they pass on a chance to commit, it might not be there in the future.
So I’d watch for Brown to commit soon after his visit in June. If not, then Ohio State might not be the sure thing, but as long as the Buckeyes want him in their receiver group in 2022, it’s hard to see them not winning this recruitment.
