Miami Hurricanes: Ray Lewis, MLB

I was initially torn between who should get the title for greatest Hurricane between Lewis and outstanding free safety Ed Reed. But upon comparing each one’s accolades, Lewis won by a landslide.

During his time at Miami, Ray Lewis was both an All-American and All-Big East selection on multiple occasions, leaving college as undoubtedly one of the greatest Hurricanes to ever hit the turf.

He went on to be selected as the 26th overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens, with who he spent his entire professional career. While there, he won two Super Bowls (the first of which, Super Bowl XXXV, he was the MVP in), was a 13x Pro Bowl selection and was a 10x All-Pro selection. Wow.

Lastly, as was acknowledged about Brian Dawkins, Lewis was known for his physical intensity and fierce competitiveness that was seen every time he was on the field. Both physically and mentally, he was one of the greatest to ever play.
