For the third time in as many years, Spencer Sanders will play quarterback for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. This time around, though, he’ll be without Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace – the defense’s main focus the past two seasons. Could this be the year Sanders finally demands the attention?
The Pokes will certainly need some heroics to pull off a successful season this fall, and Sanders could provide that punch. He’s amassed nearly 5,000 scrimmage yards in 20 career games and scored 34 total touchdowns the past two seasons. The turnovers have been a major problem for Sanders, though.
During his freshman season in 2019, Sanders threw the most interceptions in the entire Big 12 (11). He tossed eight more interceptions last season, but Oklahoma State managed to go 3-3 during that stretch. If the Cowboys are expected to compete this season, Sanders will need to cut down on the turnovers, but in addition, live up to all the lofty expectations placed on him by outsiders.
