Theo Howard has bounced around a bit and it feels like he’s been in college forever, but the experience he’s gained at UCLA and Oklahoma could help him become one of the top receivers on Notre Dame’s roster and help the Irish get back to the playoff.

Plus, losing Jordan Johnson hurt the depth in the receiving corps.

Howard was the No. 102 recruit in the 2016 recruiting class before he picked UCLA and he had a solid three-year playing career with the Bruins, totaling over 100 receptions for more than 1,300 yards and nine touchdowns. He decided to play what looked to be his final season at Oklahoma and didn’t fare as well as he would have hoped, catching just 13 passes for 163 yards.

Now he’s back on the market and a team looking for a quality WR2 or WR3 would be happy to have him. Heck, he could be a go-to target, but he hasn’t been treated as such since the 2018 season and he may be a little rusty with an abundance of targets.

Notre Dame could use another receiver, especially if it’s plagued by injuries in the corps again this season and Howard was once a top Irish target.
