CB Akayleb Evans, Tulsa

Honestly, if Nebraska football could add both Johnson and former Tulsa defensive back Akayleb Evans, it should absolutely do it.

Of course, that’s a lot easier said than done. For one, selling both transfers to come to Nebraska might be tough, even though there’s a good chance they could each see plenty of time as the No. 2 corner or the nickel guy.

Evans, a 6-foot-2, 188-pound defensive back is versatile enough to play inside or out. He’s got 82 career tackles and 11 passes defended. Last season, he also had a tackle for loss and a sack.

The biggest hindrance to getting Evans in the fold is that Evans is one of the hottest targets in all of the transfer portal right now. Texas jumped with an offer just this week and just two days ago, Notre Dame did the same.

So Evans has no shortage of suitors. He’s a guy with a good shot at getting drafted and if he wound up at Nebraska, I don’t see how the Huskers keep him off the field.
