Another potential SEC addition for Florida could be JJ Peterson from Tennessee.

The Volunteers saw a mass exodus this offseason, especially at the linebacker position, and Peterson might be one of the best natural talents at the position on the market despite very little production since getting to campus since 2018.

In fact, the former top-50 recruit has just 12 total tackles in seven career games and didn’t appear in any in 2020. He still has a couple of years of eligibility left and he could be a nice depth piece for the Gators’ linebacking corps, especially since he probably just needed a change of scenery.

Like the defensive line, the linebackers could use some younger depth (although Peterson is a junior) as the starters are going to be seniors in 2021.

Peterson was an All-American in the 2018 class and one of the top linebacker targets for the Gators out of Georgia. He ended up at Tennessee with Jeremy Pruitt but we all know how that worked out in the end.

Maybe Mullen could revitalize his career and squeeze that potential out of him.
