Tyreke Johnson is one of the highest-profile names on the market. Not for what he did at Ohio State, but rather how highly regarded he was out of high school.

The former five-star defensive back was ranked the No. 21 recruit in the 2021 class and he was also the second-best safety, according to 247Sports‘ composite rankings. He ended up playing cornerback at Ohio State but only appeared in four total games over two seasons and recorded eight tackles. He needed a new home and hit the portal this offseason.

Florida offered him back in the 2018 class and wanted to keep him close to home but the Jacksonville-native headed north and spurned SEC country.

Now that he’s back on the country and the Gators could use some defensive help if they’re going to make a playoff run, Johnson could be atop Dan Mullen’s wish list.

Although he didn’t quite pan out at Ohio State, he could fit right in with Florida.
