The transfer portal has truly changed college football in the sense that it almost serves as a real-time free agency. Of course, not a ton of elite players reach the portal. But sometimes, a gem does come along and that’s the case with Cain Madden of Marshall.

Penn State football happens to be down two starters at guard heading into next season and Madden, who just recently entered the portal as a grad transfer, just happens to be an All-American guard.

Penn State fans will be happy to know that the Nittany Lions are making a push here, but they aren’t alone according to Rivals. Florida State is going hard after Madden and appears to be the early favorite but Texas A&M and a bunch of others are in the mix.

Josh Newberg of 247 sports reports that his recruitment could go into June, with the dead period opening up. That could give Penn State a chance to secure a visit and if it can do that, maybe it could add Madden to its starting offensive line in 2021.
