It didn’t take long for Jaren Kanak to start trending to Clemson football once the Tigers jumped in with an offer for the fast-riser out of Kansas.

It’s not often that recruits out of Kansas become the focus of a national recruiting battle, but that’s exactly what’s happened with Jaren Kanak.

Kanak is out of Hays, Kansas, and is the top-ranked player in the state for the 2022 class. Yet, the recruitment of the three-star prospect who is ranked 489th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings, is taking off and Clemson football is the new favorite.

Especially after the Tigers finally made their offer on Tuesday.

Not long ago, Kanak’s visit schedule was going to include schools such as Washington State, Iowa, Kansas, and Kansas State.

Now, with a flurry of major offers recently from Alabama, Michigan, and others, his recruitment has gone national. But the biggest offer, at least in terms of Kanak’s recruitment came on Tuesday as he took an unofficial visit to Clemson football.

Is Clemson football the clear favorite?

Michigan football, Alabama, and others still have hope. The Wolverines have a visit set up with Kanak for June 4 and he’s making stops at other big programs too, both on official visits and unofficially, including an official visit to Bama on June 19.

Yet, even before Clemson football actually offered, the Tigers had picked up a crystal ball projection from Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports, one of the top national recruiting analysts out there. It was with a confidence level of just five, but still, that’s significant.

Now that the Tigers have offered and apparently blown Kanak away on his visit, it’s hard not to call the Tigers the favorite for the 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete.

Some programs view him as a wide receiver and others as a linebacker. But the reason or at least one reason his recruitment is taking off is that he can fly, running a 10.3 in the 100.

Brent Venables extended the offer to Kanak on Tuesday, which makes it seems like he will playing defense if he commits to the Tigers.

It will be interesting to see if either Michigan or Alabama can make a major impression on his visits to those schools. They appear to be the top contenders based on official visits and if anyone can deny Kanak to Clemson, it would probably be the Nick Saban and the Tide.
