1. Trey Cleveland, WR

The biggest loss from spring ball was the injury of junior wide receiver Erik Ezukanma. Last year’s starter will be out for several months. With Ezukanma being out at the inside receiver position, it gave Cleveland more opportunities to flourish, and he did so in the spring game.

Cleveland played sparingly as a freshman, hauling in just eight passes, for 81 yards and a touchdown. However, the 6’4 playmaker has the frame and with a year of development, could turn into a go-to target along the outside.

Cleveland caught a 34-yard pass from senior Henry Colombi, which led to Texas Tech’s first touchdown of the game. He finished with two catches for 48 yards.

Cleveland is expected to have a bigger role in the fall, and with the injury, this was a big spring for Cleveland. He, alongside freshman JJ Sparkman, could see quite a bit of time on the field, with their 6-foot-4 frames.

The performance Cleveland put in the spring game showed during spring ball should have Red Raider fans eager to see more.
