Chip Kelly is looking for that turnaround and although it hasn’t quite happened yet, UCLA football looked like a different team in a pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

Although the Bruins weren’t winning any division titles, they were in every single game and actually looked like contenders in the Pac-12 for the first time under Kelly. Could things be trending in the right direction in Los Angeles?

If Kelly can land any of these three transfers to bolster the 2021 roster, the answer would have to be yes.

UCLA wouldn’t have to go far to search for a linebacker as Utah’s Sione Lund is fresh on the market this offseason. Going from one Pac-12 program to another isn’t unheard of and it might actually make sense for the former four-star prospect from Salt Lake City.

Lund was actually a top running back recruit out of high school before making the transition to full-time linebacker. He played in just one season on defense as a sophomore in 2019, appearing in six games and making six total tackles and one tackle for loss.

Although he doesn’t have extensive live game experience, he could add depth and veteran leadership to the Bruins’ defense and he is comfortable already in the Pac-12.

The Bruins may not have recruited him out of high school, but Chip Kelly wasn’t the coach then and he’s definitely a Pac-12 talent. This would be a great move for the Bruins.
